A small virtual exhibition: the landscapes of Russ Potak and Kristina Botha

Hills & fields // Coast & Sea

The complementary contrast in the expressive landscape paintings of two contemporary artists

These are special times, and special times often give us new ideas, and so Russ Potak and I decided to exhibit some of our recent landscapes together to see if they are fitting together. In this times it is important to stay together (with physical distance of course) - and together we are always stronger.
Russ' and my landscapes are completing each others: They are both painted in a free and loose way, using a well matching color palette - but they stand as well in a nice complementary contrast which is very nice for the eyes of the receptionist. We also have both those light-dark-contrasts, which bring dynamic and - yes - a bit of dramatic in them too. But in the first play it's our working together in art - like siblings in art; even though we aren't even on the same continent - which brings some very special high tension in this mixture.

First of all: a warm welcome to all our lovely visitors out there and cheers to you.

Just take a glas of prosecco or red wine and feel comfortable!

My dear friend and brother in art Russ Potak and I decided to do this tiny virtual exhibition due to the actual lockdown in times with the corona virus. Social media, web blogs and video chats are an amazing possibility to keep in touch with each others while we are trying to give our best to cope with social distance at the moment.
And here it begins: the virtual walk through our recent artwork.  If you are interested in buying some original art directly from the artists, or if you have any questions about our work, please feel free to message us. Contact below. And now: enjoy! And thanx a lot for visiting us!

English edition of the illustrated novel: "Speedy: Or how to be happy"

Not only for cat lovers: Proudly presenting the english edition of the book "Speedy", written by Elke Grasshof with illustrations by Kristina Botha. It is now available on amazon: please click here:

"Catching mice is not everything in this world," Speedy's mother had always said. But "make sure that you are happy with what you do!"

The caramel candy-colored tomcat Speedy is looking for his occupational purpose. Catching mice is not what makes him happy and he wants to give his life, as a cat, a deeper sense. He starts an informative and exciting journey through different occupational adventures, due to the support of his friend Orlando and inspired by the scientist Dr. Can and finally he finds his way to himself. It is an inspiring book for people who want to take a short time off the hectic everyday life and who want to be charmed by the optimism and the positive philosophy of life of this little, lovely tomcat.
As a German author, Elke Grasshof wrote the first version of the story of tomcat Speedy of course in German. After it was illustrated by the visual artist Kristina Botha, it first appeared on amazon in the German edition. Now there is also an English version.

At first glance, the book gives the impression that it contains a story for children. Which is of course and especially due to the colorful pictures of the illustrator. What Grasshof actually wanted to write was a guide to lead a happy life. The illustrations seemed to fit her theme exactly: "Because they make you laugh and are so nice that your heart opens up," said Grasshof. In a book about personal happiness, she wanted to make the reader happy just by looking at the pictures. Her story is a kind of parable. Someone (in this case a young tomcat) is looking for what makes him happy in his life. So he tries a few things until he finally knows what is really important. This parable is applicable to every adult reader.
Speedy even visits a therapist to be more satisfied and to make the best of his life: Ms Dose is an astrologer and life counselor, maybe a kind of modern white witch, at any rate a wise woman who advises the tomcat very well.

The book "Speedy: Or How To Be Happy" by Elke Grasshof with illustrations by Kristina Botha is just as suitable for adults as a life coaching guide as well as for children as a bedtime story.
Available at amazon as paperback and as a Kindle version under this link: SPEEDY.

NEW BOOK // Historischer Roman: "Das Liebeslied der Fee"

Mittelalterliches Slice of Live & romantisches Märchen

Medieval slice of live & romantic fairy tale

England in the 12th century: after a sheltered and carefree childhood, the girl Fay grew up and leaves the parental castle for the first time to accompany her father, a knight of King Henry II, to a tournament in London. A stay at the royal court not only broadens her horizons, but also lets her get to know love. And something else is waiting for her: the great adventure of life. Fay's story is the story of a search - for a plan, meaningful content for her own life. It is as much a medieval slice of live as a romantic fairy tale full of love, songs, legends - and also lust. And the focus is always on the strong women of a time when women were still "subjects", although many also had other passions than their husbands and children: politics, the art of healing, poetry, music - and even the martial art that was actually reserved only for men.
